The Columbus Cottonmouths defeated the Huntsville Havoc 6-1 Friday night to advance to the SPHL finals for the first time since 2005. It was the second consecutive playoff series sweep for the Snakes, who also defeated the Louisiana Ice Gators two games to none in round one. The Snakes have now won seven consecutive games (three regular season and four playoff), dating back to Thursday, March 22.
Greg Beller led the Snakes with a pair of goals and an assist. Five other Snakes chipped in a pair of points on the evening. Ian Vigier improved to 4-0 in the playoffs, lowering his GAA to 1.20.
The Snakes will face the winner of the Knoxville-Pensacola series. Pensacola leads the series 1-0. Dates and an opponent for the finals will be announced as soon as possible.
