Championship Celebration Tuesday

A celebration for the 2012 SPHL champion Columbus Cottonmouths will be held Tuesday, April 17 from 6-8 pm in the courtyard outside the Columbus Civic Center and Columbus Ice Rink.

All Cottonmouths players will be on hand for pictures and autographs. Discounted merchandise will be available as well as championship tshirts. Pre-orders will be taken for DVDs of Saturday night’s 3-1 victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers, including the post-game President’s Cup ceremony. Fans who purchased game jerseys in the auction can pick them up tomorrow. The President’s Cup will be on display for pictures.

The Columbus Cottonmouths captured their third franchise league title Saturday night in Penscaola, Florida with a 3-1 victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers. The Snakes were a perfect 6-0 in the playoffs, sweeping each of their three, 3-game series against the Louisiana Ice Gators, Huntsville Havoc and Pensacola Ice Flyers. Goaltender Ian Vigier was named playoff MVP with a 6-0 record, 1.30 GAA and .956 save percentage. It was the Snakes first trip to the SPHL finals and first championship since 2005, where they were also perfect in post-season play with a 5-0 record.
