NewsSnakes Crush IceFlyers, 8-1Date: Nov 26, 2009 The Columbus Cottonmouths used a heavy dose of offense to defeat the Pensacola IceFlyers 8-1 on Thanksgiving night. In an all-around team effort, the Snakes got point contributions from 13 of their 16 skaters. Jesse Cole picked up his first professional hat trick, while Sam Bowles notched his first goal since returning to the Snakes in early November. It is the second consecutive weekend a rookie has recorded a hat trick, with Levi Lind collecting a trio of goals last Friday. Kyle Lundale got the Snakes on the board first Thursday with a slap shot past Pensacola goaltender Ryan Scott. In addition to Lundale, Bowles, and Cole, Ryan McCarthy collected a pair of goals and Tim Green added one to put the Snakes on top 8-1. Chris Rebernik spoiled Ian Vigier's shutout bid with a goal at 11:40 of the third period. Vigier stopped 25 of 26 shots, and remains the top goaltender in the SPHL with a 1.68 goals against average over six games. The Snakes head to Fayetteville to take on the FireAntz Friday night, and return to the Snake Pit Saturday, Nov. 28 for Fight Night with UFC's Forrest Griffin.
