Snakes Fall to FireAntz, 6-4

The Columbus Cottonmouths fell to the FireAntz 6-4 in Fayetteville Friday night. The Snakes fell in a 2-0 hole in the first period on a pair of goals by Fayetteville's Rob Sich. Tim Green cut the lead to one and a slapshot from Andrew Dwyer just 58 seconds into the second period tied the game at 2.

Rob Sich collected his third goal of the night, giving the FireAntz a one-goal lead but four minutes later, Jesse Cole tied it up for the Snakes again. A quick pair of Fayetteville goals just 1:03 apart put the Snakes in another two-goal deficit heading into the third period. Jeff Martens cut the lead to one at 7:22 of the third, but Steve Cooke gave Fayetteville a 6-4 lead, which would prove to be the final score.

The Snakes were 2 for 6 on the powerplay. Chad Rycroft stopped 32 of 38 shots and took the loss in net for the Cottonmouths.

The Snakes return home to take on the Mississippi Surge Saturday, Nov. 28. It's Fight Night with special guests, UFC fighters Forrest Griffin and Alex Karalexis. Fight Night jerseys will be worn and auctioned following the game.
